Food trucks

Food trucks for breakfast – the locals all go to food trucks near the back of Scotiabank. They serve local dumplings, corn hash, etc. Great deal for breakfast much cheaper than eating at the resort.

 if you leave the island and go downtown there are some food trucks that are decently priced. 

  The real deal was the food trucks located behind the parking garage next to the shopping center. All the taxi drivers and locals parked and ate there. I think it was called Fat Alberts...fat something, anyway her food was wonderful and you have to try her coleslaw!!! Our group ate there every day after we found her. We bought water at the small grocery store in that shopping center. The Dunkin Doughnuts had great coffee and a good bagel breakfast as well.

 - food regulation has done away with the station wagons, but the local food truck scene is alive and well! The employee parking lot garage east of the ScotiaBank on Harbour Drive has a couple food trucks - and Dorothy's is worthy of #YouGottaEatHere!

 We did find some good food off property: breakfast and lunch trucks in the parking lot next to the Bahama Craft Center were excellent (especially Fat Jacks for jerk chicken and pork at lunch)

 Best bet is usually the employee and taxi lots near the Beach Towers (closest to the RUI property)

 On a side note about local Bahamian food.....check out the food truck(s). Located on one side of the 3-story parking structure behind ScotiaBank....across from Marina Village. For breakfast I had stew fish and Johnnycake. Amazing. Cash only. Truck(s) are there from about 6:30 AM to about 11:30 AM. But if there are a lot of people in line, please be respectful of the locals and let them order first as they are on their way to work at Atlantis.

Daily Menu: Fried chicken wings, the works burger and fries, chef’s salad
Weekly Specials: Local fish tacos with veggie slaw, Bahamian lobster roll with lemon butter sauce
Average Price/Meal: $10.00
Find It: Parked in a shady spot towards the Western end of Montagu Beach, closest to The Fort


For some real down home cooking,  visit the "lunch ladies".   These ladies arrive every day around lunch time with their trucks and cars filled with home cooked meals for the workers.  They are located on the wharf near the straw market and bring everything from soup and snacks to full meals..   Soups such as Split Pea and Dumpling, Chicken Souse, Oxtail and  Turkey Dumpling can be had for just $5.   Full meals of Baked / Fried Chicken, Pork Chops, Fish, Curried Goat, Oxtail Stew etc are available with a variety of sides for $7- 10 a plate.   This food is delicious.. Can't get any better, and the price is right.
