new upscale SHOWCASE tent at the Tucson 22nd Street Mineral, Fossil, Gem & Jewelry Show. This new venue will be sited immediately south of the familiar 750-foot long Main Tent, but the SHOWCASE tent will be a higher-end experience for buyers and sellers.

Centrally located at the northeast intersection of Interstate I-10 and 22nd Street, one exit south of the downtown Congress Street exit.
We are across the highway from the Quality Inn, Howard Johnson, and Travelodge shows.

Everything at El Guero Canelo is tasty, but if you don't order a Mexican hot dog, you're missing a decadent treat. A hot dog wrapped in bacon, slathered with beans, grilled onions and tomatoes and kissed by jalapeƱo sauce is a culinary adventure every stomach should experience. 2480 N. Oracle Road, 520-882-8977; 5201 S. 12th Ave., 520-295-5005; www.elguerocanelo.com.

• Known for the serenity of its patio and its melt-in-your-mouth omelets, crepes and scrambles, the Blue Willow has been dishing up wholesome grub for more than three decades. 2616 N. Campbell Ave. 520-327-7577, www.bluewillowtucson.com.

• Taqueria Pico de Gallo is a no-frills spot that serves Sonoran cuisine with a Baja influence. The shrimp tacos rock. For dessert, try the signature pico de gallo: spears of mango, coconut and pineapple sprinkled with lime juice and chili powder. 2618 S. Sixth Ave. 520-623-8775.

One of Tucson's best free attractions is the Mission San Xavier del Bac, located about nine miles south of downtown Tucson on the Tohono O'odham San Xavier Indian Reservation

Ted DeGrazia is a Tucson legend. His home and the surrounding buildings, originally built in open country in the foothills of the Catalinas, are now surrounded by the city. The gallery, his former home, his workshop, and the roofless chapel were all built by hand from native materials. The "gallery" now serves as a museum to the famed artist. It also houses the gift shop and a small gallery dedicated to the religious festivals of the Yaqui Native Americans. The grounds are rustic and artful, and the garden is lovely. Well worth a visit, even if you're not a DeGrazia devotee

The new Tohono O’odham Nation Cultural Center and Museum opened in June of 2007. The 38,000 square foot, $15.2 million facility is located just 70 miles from Tucson (10 miles south of Sells) in a desert landscape with the sacred Baboquivari Peak as a backdrop.

The museum features an extensive collection of basketry, pottery, and historic and photos. An eight-foot glass window engraved with the man in the maze design is a feature of the Elder Center located on the property. This is the only facility of its kind open to the public on the Tohono O’odham Nation offering an intimate glimpse into Tohono O’odham life.

Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
