Renting car at Malaga airport

Personally, I feel better with AX car rental insurance as it's actually insurance you are buying vs. a visa that is a card member perk or benefit.

The RENFE Train Station at Málaga Airport is ready and waiting to take passengers to and from the airport with trains leaving every 20 minutes for Málaga City  or Fuengirola in the out of town direction.  The Fuengirola train, stops at Torremolinos and Benalmádena as well.

The airport is also home to some of the most competitive rates for car hire in Europe.

The small car hire company offices in the car park are also useful for those who are collecting a hire car at the airport and did not arrive by aeroplane,  http://www.andalucia.com/travel/airports/malaga/carhire.htm

There is a 24 hour BP petrol station at the airport to refill the car.

Which side of the road do you drive on in Spain?

They drive on the right!  Cars drive on the right side of the road in Spain, with the driver on the left side of the car.  This is a bonus for the American, as it is familiar and the same as the US!
We have rented via Gold Car many times from the Málaga Airport.  This summer we rented June, July and September and paid from €93 to €300 for each 28 day rental from them.
Depending on your personal circumstances sometimes you may be better off or quicker on your way with the service of an off-airport car hire company, such as  www.hellehollis.com,www.malagacar.com or www.dragoncars.com You will lose a bit of time during the ride in the courtesy bus to the local office, but in many cases you will be the only client picking up a vehicle
Our first tip is to drop into a few forums – TripAdvisor has a lengthy thread – and see what others are saying about hiring a car in Malaga. Or just put ‘best car hire companies in Malaga’ or ‘bad car hire companies in Malaga’ and read on. Take note of the goodies and baddies.
Fuel – find out what the company’s fuel policy is. Full for full is the easiest and cheapest option since you hire the car with a full tank and bring it back full. There are several petrol stations near the airport.
some have their offices outside the Airport. To reach these, you use one of their shuttle buses. In our experience, you tend to get your hire car more quickly from the companies outside the Airport.

if your looking for a more personalised service where you are met directly in the arrivals hall and taken directly to your car no hassle no waiting then check out the local company with office in Malaga, nerja, Almuñecar rent a car bahia, or Miami Car Hire with office in Malaga and Fuengirola.

In these days of disingenuous, opportunistic car hire firms, I cannot imagine a better car hire company than Malagacar.com. Their business plan is obviously to take advantage of the unscrupulous competition by providing a first class, honest service.

I have never had problems with sixt, centauro, helle hollis, or malagacar.com. I have ALWAYS had problems with Goldcar, Firefly, Record, Delpaso.
The best are helle ( but cost a bit more) and malagacar.com. Centauro charge a lot for fuel, and sixt are a bit picky when it comes to small scratches.
I use DoYouSpain and use the delete option to avoid quotes from all the rip off companies. I then compare with helle. If helle are less than €40 more expensive I go with them as they are WAY better than the budget boys.
There are very few complaints on TA about Malagacar.com, in fact they are one of the most recommended! You could try Helle Hollis they come highly recommended by lots of people including me!
If you want totally hassle free car hire try Helle Hollis. You won't find any problems with them. They are slightly more expensive than a lot of the companies at Malaga, but you get what youpay for If you use the code H6486 you will get another 15% off the cost of the hire.

Why book your Malaga Car Rental with Helle Hollis?

Helle Hollis has been providing car rental services on the Costa del Sol for 35 years and has a fleet of 1400 cars.
Upon arrival to Malaga Airport, the free Helle Hollis courtesy bus service takes you to the Head Office in a short two-minute ride. You will avoid long waiting time and as Helle Hollis is open 24 hours, you can arrive and collect your hire car at any time, day or night.
Helle Hollis is known for being a fair and transparent Malaga car rental company, where you will get a safe and worry-free start to your holidays.
I cannot praise the folk at Dragon Car Hire enough. From start to finish there were no issues whatsoever. I have hired from Dragon several times over the years and find them a breath of fresh air compared to the other national car hire firms operating from Malaga airport.
My company of choice is Helle Hollis and wouldn't use anyone else.
Use companies like www.malagacar.com or www.hellehollis.com not the cheapest if you use comparison sites but they wont rip you off. Personal preference is Helle Hollis for me

  • Groceries must be carried in the boot of the car and not on the back seats, people have been known to be caught and fined driving out of supermarket car parks.
