Small refridge in the room - no microwave. Hotel was built in 2015, so very nice. Laundry facilities on each floor. Also a water bottle refilling station to economize on the water you want to bring with you every day.
Haleiwa Town is 17 miles and 30 minutes (in light traffic) away. Between Laie and Haleiwa you will find lots of beaches, three of which make up surfing' triple crown, including ABC wide World of Sports' Banzai Pipeline (showing my age!).
Also, stop for a visit to Waimea Falls (opposite Waimea Beach) and take a free dip at the falls!
When we were there, the biggest waves (30-40') came in. So, no surfing or whale watching catamaran for 2-3 days. NOTE: North Shore snorkeling is limited in winter - best in summer. Of all the recommended North Shore snorkeling venues, we only had success at Turtle Bay (free beach access to the right of the resort - 10 minutes from hotel). Most north shore beaches have hidden and/or razor sharp rocks (original lava flows) - be sure to have flippers or something on your feet, or else!!
The hotel also has a very decent fresh water pool with waterfall - and convenient "private" access to the beach right across the road! Don't miss this hidden gem.
Be sure to go to Laie Point - opposite Foodland shopping center at traffic light for magnificent wave action on the rocks. Unbelieveable and free - but be sure to park so as to avoid a ticket in the neighborhood.
this hotel is located in a dry town, so you will need to buy your adult beverages elsewhere and bring them with you.
There is also a longs drugs, foodland and a local grocery close by.
But Foodland just 500 metres north, or Longs Drugs(of all places) just a couple of kilometres south both carry alcohol
The hotel is near many of the local shrimp trucks and I felt like I had decent options for dining nearby.
Room Tip: higher floors to the road side have a great ocean view.
“Ask for top floor (third level) facing the ocean.”
“The big rooms are at the smaller building with 2 beds per room, nice size kitchen and bathrooms.”
“Upper floors may get a better view of the ocean, mcdonalds next door, for a cheap breakfast.”
You will either have a pool view or an ocean side room.
“Ocean view for sunrise
“DO NOT accept a room by the road!! Get the wing not by the road!!!
For an ocean view, choose a room on the 3rd floor; even numbers.
Marriott also skimps on offering an included breakfast at most of their hotels, and that was a hassle with only McDonalds next door. We had to load up and drive to the surprisingly good Hukilau Cafe
So the short story of it is this the cons are a dry county, not many places to eat in the area after like 6 pm, and CHECK IN IS NOT UNTIL 4pm if you're lucky.
Laie Shopping Center minutes away, best shave ice at Angels.
Awesome breakfast at Hukilau Cafe to start the day.
try the Hukilau Marketplace (5 minutes walk away), which has a few good restaurants (especially Pounders)
gold just means half off self parking ($5)
nearby kualiki mall closed sunday
