Frank Linderman and his many careers as writer, politician, assayer, and Native American ally and ethnographer.
Frank Bird Linderman (September 25, 1869 – May 12, 1938) was a Montana writer, politician, Native American ally and ethnographer.
The Flathead valley gets its name from the Salish (Flathead) Indians who inhabit the Flathead Indian Reservation, which is located at the southern end of the lake.
Created by Ice Age glaciers, almost thirty miles long and fifteen miles across at it’s widest point, Flathead lake is the largest natural lake in western U.S. A 160 mile shoreline and water covers nearly two-hundred square miles of Montana – and at 300 feet deep,
Flathead Lake is slightly larger in surface area than Lake Tahoe, but it is much smaller in volume.
Lake Tahoe has more water than Flathead because it is significantly deeper (nearly 1650 ft vs. 380 ft). The Great Salt Lake in Utah is significantly larger than Flathead but is salt, not fresh water.
