The main pool area was gigantic, and water was warm! Plus lovely cascading falls, and a giant community hot tub in a grotto area
Stay away from the parking lot side if you want less noise.

“Try to get something closer to the stairs or if you have a lot of stuff to bring up to the room then be near the elevators.”
Scottsdale is a big city and from this location you must have a car.”
Rooms on the South and west sides are quieter. Also, rooms near the main pool.”
Ask for a room with a view.
You can select movies and books in the main building for at night as each room has a DVD player.
Rooms NOT on Hayden Road would be quieter and therefore preferable.”

Outer perameter rooms to be a little bit away from the pool noises.”
Ask for a room in the palm court, best location on site!!!!!”
Try to get an end unit as they usually have a better view from your balcony

Try to get a room away from the pool to because of the loud noise early in the morning. Get a second floor room with the patio facing inward so you get a good view of the wonderful trees, stream and the awesome wildlife.”
Rooms at the front of the property get a lot of Hayden Rd traffic noise. Ask for a room towards the back of the property ( west side I believe) with the patio facing the green space areas. Two story property, no elevators
“Great grocery at Fry's Signature Grocery Store”
Avoid unit 1116. Adjacent to it is the laundry room which resulted in staff washing and drying at all times of the day and night, with the dryer exhuast next to the master bedroom. Very noisy from the commercial sized washer and dryer vents. Avoid the units facing Hayden Road which is very noisy
If your looking for quiet as for a room on the top floor and at the end of the resort away from front desk and pool.”
Buildings in back of resort are far away from the road, and quieter. Top floors of 3-storey buildings have more sun, and better views.”

Corner suites are quieter and have great patios
On the positive side Fry's supermarket is about 2 miles away as is Wallmart. It is near the freeway, so easy to get around. The pool area is nice and the staff are generally very helpful. Free internet access is a bonus.
You need a car to get around Scottsdale. The hotel offers a trip to get groceries and to a mall for a general shopping experience. The shuttles cost $5 each.
Resort-style: The multiple building format makes for some distance between where you park (which is pretty easy and free, a pro) and your room, which makes rolling your carry-on around a path and then lugging it up stairs not-so-fun.
I do wish we wouldn't be pressured to sit through the presentations where they try to convince us to buy into their vacation program. We just are not interested, and we certainly don't want to waste our precious vacation time this way.
The only fault with this property is the front desk. While friendly, they funnel you to the "concierge" for a free gift. There are no free gifts (at least nothing of any value). Rather, this is an attempt to get you to sign up for their timeshare pitch. I found the guise to be offensive
- Pool was a little far, but the front desk gave me a choice of either a peaceful/serene view or closer quarters to the pool.
- interesting if you are adventurous and are comfortable driving on unpaved roads in the mountains is driving the Apache Trail which goes out to Tonto National Forest and Roosevelt Lake.
- Themed courtyards by vegetation: we were palm which was my favorite
- Visit the grocery stores nearby including Basha's up on Bell Road, about 2 miles from resort or Frys north on Hayden Road.three miles from the unique Kierland Commons shopping center.Events at this hotel include professional story tellimg, wine tastings, and country western dancing.
